Henry literally gives Ted the shirt off his back. He doesn’t like to let go of him when we take his jammy shirt off, so Ted usually ends up stuck in one of the sleeves.
Henry thinks it’s both adorable and hilarious. He’s right.
So…two weekends ago? Yes, that’s right. Wow, time flies! Two weekends ago, I hit the air and made my way towards Meagan. That may not help you with where I went, since the last three times I’ve seen her have been in places other than the city in which she lives. So I’ll clarify: I went to Philadelphia
She and her husband just bought (and gutted themselves) this great row house just a short walk from downtown Philly. I can’t wait to see what these two architects create together in this space! Here’s Meagan architecting it up
We biked, walked and zipped around all over the place, and ate some fantastic things. My favorite walk was one straight from their house all the way across to the other side of town. We stopped at every random boutique and vintage shop along the way. (And since it’s me, we also stopped at the candy store).
Meagan and Jason pondering the world
A giant shoe made of coat hangers
All of this
Oh, hello!
We were resting on a beautiful couch in a store that smelled like heaven, and Meagan diagnosed what was wrong with me foot. It’s that I’d gone for a run a few weeks before. Lesson learned! No more runs.
The endpoint for our walk was a brewery. And not just any brewery.
It’s Meagan’s project. She’s making a building!
She designed this, nbd
And here we are at the brewery’s current location. Even while enjoying beer, she’s needed for some consultation.
Nice benefits, though.
Such a delightful trip with delightful company. And after ordering my very first Lyft ride (turns out, you can load the app on a desktop or tablet, so a one-way ride is within my capabilities, at least), I hit the skies again and was back home,
where a smorgasbord of CSA delights awaited me!
I love harvest time.
Apparently I took a picture of myself nuzzling the vegetables. Hooo boy.
With fall comes the promise of HALLOWEEN! Henry has decided he’ll be a chef, and he wanted me to make him an apron (he’s got the hat). Pointing out that he has two aprons made no difference. He needs a chef apron! So I did a little magic and turned Joe’s old laundry hamper into just what he wanted. Complete with a pocket and loops, because apparently he’s bringing a lot of cooking tools with him when we go.
This past Sunday was glooooorious, weather-wise. So Joe kicked our butts into gear and took us to Fort Snelling State Park.
The parking lot alone was exciting enough for the boys to get over their grumpies at having to leave the house.
Pickanick lunch!
We forgot Henry’s hat, and he didn’t like wearing Charlie’s baseball cap, so he and I switched headgear. SO adorable.
Charlie always seeks out the informational booths and placards. He gave us the lowdown on this bridge built in 1926. It was the longest continuous concrete arch bridge in the world when it was built.
Pretty, too

Henry marked our trail, so we could find our way.
Like every ten feet
We got to see some big boats on the Mississippi.
Then we crossed the island to walk along the Minnesota.

There’s the Mendota Bridge again!

Happy October, everyone.
